Beef Heart

Tender and soft to chew. Mild flavor and brings a great taste with salt.

Beef Heart

I enjoy the taste very much, and I will continue to buy and support this business.

My only complain is that sometimes you don't get the whole heart but a portion is cut, either sale the heart as a whole or price it by the pound and let the customer decide how many pounds they will like to order so that there aren't any issues or misunderstandings in expectations vs reality.

My new indulgence!!!

So...the closest I’ve ever come to eating organs is fried chicken livers & onions over rice as a child. Recently, I decided to try to incorporate more organ meats into my diet due to their nutritional benefits. I have to say that my experience with beef heart was a good one! I fully submerged my 2 lbs beef heart in balsamic vinegar for 24 hours in the fridge. I did this because although the heart is both a muscle and an organ and beefy with a just slightly gamey flavor, this was my 1st time tasting beef heart. I didn’t want the flavor to be too gamey to the point where I can’t stand the taste enough to swallow it. I had read online about soaking the heart in balsamic or apple cider vinegar for up to 24 hours to help with any gamey flavors and let me tell you, it was delicious!!! After soaking, I discarded the balsamic vinegar, pat the beef heart dry and sliced the left and right atria/ ventricles in half so they would have the flatness of an 1 inch ribeye steak. I fried them up with some grass fed butter, 5-6 minutes on each side on high heat for a good sear & then let it rest lightly covered with aluminum foil for 15 minutes. Omg!!! This beef heart tasted just like a steak with a distinct flavor and unique texture. I loved it and my dog did too! Just an FYI, if cooking the beef heart in a crock pot instead of pan fry, the taste of the balsamic vinegar is more recognizable but when fried, the flavor is exceptional!!! I really prefer cooking it like a steak, but I heard beef heart is also good in a stew.
