Why Free Range?

The nutrition of our food depends on how it was grown, especially animal products. These vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids are stored in the protein and fat, determining both taste and nutrient content. Feedlot animals are not only missing the quality diet that make their meat taste good, they can have “off” flavors, a lower nutrient content, and an imbalanced fatty acid ratio. The portion is nothing like you get in the supermarket. It is by far so much more superior than anything I’ve had in the past.it tastes so good!

    Second liver product I’ve ever tried, the first being Frankie’s Cod Liver. The cod liver was hard for me to get down. I fried this beef liver up in butter, with low expectations. IT WAS GREAT!! Tasted like a steak, but a liiiiitttle bit off. I enjoyed it. Will buy again.

    Liver can go two ways. Rich and delicious or foul and metallic tasting. If its the first then you ordered from Frankie’s. Good beef liver comes from grassfed and finished cows. The taste is unbelievable and the organ can be prepared in so many ways. Just a little goes a long ways for your health. Buu buy buy! It’s worth the investment.

    Normally I don’t like liver. But I do you know how beneficial it is to my health. Normally I’m sitting there forcing it down gagging. This stuff is much more mild and enjoyable. I have a hard time swallowing even cooked liver. The stuff I can actually eat raw and chew without gagging. I actually prefer it diced small and frozen to be swallowed whole. It was vacuum sealed and it’s packaging when it arrived. It was still frozen solid when it was at my door, and the sizes of the cuts are perfect.

    Liver – how do you like liver? I can only give it a 4 star rating because its liver. Liver doesn’t ever deserve more because well it taster like liver. Actually this liver taste better than any store bought non-grass fed liver by a mile. That said it is still liver.

    I am happy to write a review for Frankie’s Grass Fed Beef Liver. It was packed beautifully and was still 100% frozen upon arrival ~ it was everything I expected it to be as I order grass fed beef liver from a few other places I like. The only difference is that it is not sliced but instead a large chunk that I slice myself which does not bother me and in some ways is easier if I don’t use the entire piece at one time. I will definitely be ordering again ~ thank you

    I cannot attribute the poor quality of the dish I prepared to the quality of the meat. I cannot really attest to whether this is “good” or “bad” meat, as this was only the second time I’ve eaten liver to my recollection, the preceding time being in the form of pâté at a Jewish deli on a sandwich. Very diffferent experiences. The flavor of the meat was incredibly strong. INCREDIBLY strong. I let it soak in some local organic milk for about four hours, drained most of the milk out, and left it in the fridge for about a day. Maybe should have done otherwise, as it apparently can be left to soak for up to 24 hours. After trying to cook a simple liver and onions with bacon recipe, I found that, while tasty straight out of the pan, the flavor was overwhelming. I could taste the metalic flavor of the liver (or of the blood in the meat, which was still seeping out when I took it out of the fridge for the final preparation) for almost an hour after consuming, and it was a bit nauseating. There was no way I could have eaten more than a slice of it after cooking it the first time. Upon reheating, the flavor was still not quite right, and I had to throw it into a stew I had going. Whether that was for the best or not, I can’t say, but I refuse to waste good meat. It was not until cooking it through a third time that the meat was tollerable, and I suspect that I may have left it raw in the middle of the liver slices on the initial cooking. I still have three more livers to go through, and some kidneys, so I’ll have plenty of occasions to experiment with getting it right, or trying other dishes, such as making a pâté or liverwurst.
