Young Gouda

This Young Gouda is mild and creamy, aged for only 2-4 months. Because of its young age, this Gouda cheese is semi soft with a creamy mouth feel. This delicious young gouda is just begging to be paired with delicious fruit preserves and fresh bread

Licensed cheesemaker, Marieke Penterman and her team, handcraft traditional Dutch Goudas using the time-tested, Old World, cheesemaking methods that Marieke brought with her when she emigrated from the Netherlands. The rBGH free cows milk couldn’t be fresher being piped directly from the first milking of the day directly into the processing vat. The curd is hand packed into 18 pound forms before going under the press. It is then brined for 60 hours. The wheels are then transferred to the special curing room and aged on Dutch pine planks which absorb the liquid as the cheese ages. For the first 14 days the cheese is turned (flipped over) daily to ensure that the butterfat is evenly distributed throughout the cheese.

    I ordered this cheese along with some other items to sample Frankie’s food wares. I love a good cheese, especially raw cheese and after trying it, I found it great! It was soft and tasty like Gouda should be. This would definitely be great as a snack or to put out as an appetizer for company. I just wish there was more than a 1/2 lb in an order! It’s easy to eat it all in one sitting and I wanted more!

    This cheese is incredible. I’ve never had a cheese that is so rich and flavorful. It’s very creamy like you’d expect a dairy product to be; unlike what grocery store cheese tastes like and it has a richer taste than any other Gouda I’ve had. I would live off of this cheese alone if I could.

    First: I am a mild lover of cheese. I’ve always thought gouda was okay but not worth the extra money. My wife adores gouda. This raw milk gouda is amazing. I thoroughly enjoy it and my wife is crazy about it. It has a rich flavor and is incredibly smooth and creamy when you chew it. This gouda is definitely worth the price. I WILL be ordering more and I will be ordering the other types to try.

    Every raw cheese I have tried here has changed my perspective on life. The gouda is amazing. It’s like the first time I’ve ever eaten cheese. I can’t even look at the cheese aisle in Publix again. Compared to US wellness meats cheese, while cheaper, is NO WHERE near the taste of these cheeses. So complex. It’s a new experience for me.

    It’s strong, which is not my usual preference for cheese, but I like it! Even crave it some days.
    If nicely uniform cubes are important to you, it may be helpful to know, it crumbles a bit.
    It’s my first experience having cheese with crystalline zingy bits; years ago I read that’s a good thing (nutritionally) tho I don’t recall the details.
